Emma’s Sunflower
Emma’s Sunflower came about as part of the Monday Makes series that I have been running. I wanted a simple square pattern that could be used in a variety of ways and this was the end result.

Notes
Picot is made by chaining 3 then slip stitching down into the 1st chain created. A little bobble effect is created.
Worked in continuous rounds unless stated otherwise.

Pattern
With Brown 4 mm
Round 1: 6 SC into magic ring (6) Or CH4 SL ST to 1ST CH to form a ring and place 6 SC inside
Round 2: 2 SC in each ST around (12)
Round 3: *SC, INC* REP around (18)
Round 4: *2SC, INC* REP around (24)
Round 5: Change to yellow and working in BLO, SC in each ST around. SL ST to first SC. (24)
Round 6: CH1, *(HDC, DC, TR, PIC, TR, DC, HDC) all in one ST, SL ST to the next* REP around until you have created 12 petals. F/O

With green
Round 7: Join at the top of any picot stitch. CH1, SC in same ST. *CH5, SC in Pic* rep * * around all 12 petals. SL ST to the 1st SC to complete the round.
Round 8: ST into the CH 5 SP, CH3 (counts as a DC), 2 DC, CH3, 3DC all into the CH 5 SP. {DC in next SC, 3 DC in CH SP* twice. DC in next SC, (3DC, CH3, 3DC) in CH5 SP} rep { } 4 times omitting the final corner. SL ST to top of CH3 to close.
Round 9: CH1, HDC in each ST (3), 5 DC in the corner CH SP. *HDC in each ST across (15), 5DC in corner CH SP * rep * * 4 times. Omitting the final corner. 12 HDC, SL ST to top of HDC. F/O weave in all ends.
